5 Quick Ways to Freshen Up Your Home for the New Year

The new year is quickly approaching and the beginning of 2018 may also mean a chance to freshen up a few rooms in your home. Decorations are coming down, trees tucked away, and you may be feeling like a spruce is in order. Fortunately, you don't need a complete makeover to get a new look, all you need is a little inspiration and a little change. And don't worry about breaking your budget, some of our ideas won't even cost a dime!

1. Pile on the Pillows

The quickest way to change any room is to switch out your throw pillows. Jazz up any couch with bold colors, metallics, and textures to add depth and whimsy. Add a cozy blanket to create an inviting feel that will promote comfort and relaxation.

2. Rearrange your Artwork

Rotating the art in your home is a perfect way to change the style of any room. Take a few of your favorite pieces and create a whole new gallery wall that tells it's own unique story in your entry way, dining room, above a couch, or up a staircase. This is also a great trick for anyone who is renting their home and are unable to paint, artwork can inspire a similar effect.

3. Peel and Stick Wallpaper

Yes, folks! Wallpaper is back and we're in love! But don't worry, the horrors of wallpapers past are gone as we now have the wonderful option of "peel and stick". This option allows you to change your style more often and avoids the messy and tedious work of traditional wallpaper hanging. Start out small if you're uncertain and do an accent wall in a half bath or closet to spice up your look and show off your whimsical personality.

4. Restyle your Coffee Table

Keep your accent furniture from looking stale by switching out some accessories while styling your coffee table, side table, or even dining table. Use fresh flowers to brighten up the room, or display some of the new books you may have received as Christmas gifts. Your space should focus on your own personal sense of comfort and functionality.

5. New Year, New Hue

A new year means a new chance for bold changes and falling in love with the unexpected. Step outside of the box with new paints, new rugs, and new upholstery that dares to be a little different. Pantone's Color of the Year, Ultra Violet, is just that and will continue to take interior design trends to unique and unheard of places. Play with color in your own home and take a chance on something that might be a little out of your comfort zone, we promise it will pay off!
